The main research areas are

  • problem of the sign of the charge in electron cooling theory;
  • study of antiproton interaction with a magnetized electron gas using method of quantum field theory ;
  • calculation of the friction force between antiprotons in a magnetized plasma under the dielectric model;
  • development of a model of pair collisions within the electron cooling theory with consideration of multiple collisions;
  • study of soliton-like electron motion as additional mechanism of energy losses of antiprotons in electron cooling;
  • simulation (specifically PIC) of the processes while interactions between charged particle beams and between particle beams and matter.

  • determination of electron wave function in the field of two Coulomb centers;
  • study of spontaneous electron-positron pair production by electrostatic field of two nuclei;
  • investigation of electron-positron pairs while heavy ion collisions within the Bethe-Maximon approach in the field of soft relativism;
  • generalization of equivalent-photon method for pair production in the field of moderately relativistic energies;
  • investigation of QED processes in magnetic field of moving heavy nuclei;
  • theory of abnormal peaks in pair production channel while heavy ion collisions;
  • photon polarization displacement in magnetic field of moving ions;

On December 22, 2021, the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine announced a competition to replace the director of the Institute of Applied Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. According to the Statute of the NAS of Ukraine, the right to nominate candidates for the position of director of a scientific institution has: the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine, the Bureau of the relevant branch of the NAS of Ukraine, members of the NAS of Ukraine, the Academic Council of the institution. A candidate for the position of director of a state scientific institution must be fluent in the state language, have a doctorate or doctor of philosophy and work experience as a researcher and (or) research and teaching staff of at least 10 years.
