He graduated from the Kharkiv State University in 1994, speciality - theoretical nuclear physics. From 1994 to 1997 he took a post-graduation course in the Institute of Applied Physics NAS of Ukraine, Sumy, Ukraine. From 1994 to present he works as a senior research worker at the Institute of Applied Physics NAS of Ukraine. Roman Kholodov defended his PhD thesis in 2001 in a specialized Scientific Board Д 64.051.12 of the V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Kharkiv, Ukraine. Educational work Since 2002 he has being working at the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko on a part-time basis. In 2008 he habilitated as an associate professor of the department of experimental and theoretical physics. From 2006 to 2009 he supervised Oleksandr Novak, a post-graduate student, speciality 01.04.02 - theoretical physics, PhD thesis "Resonant and coherent electromagnetic processes in strong magnetic field"; Oleksii Khelemelia, a student, Master's thesis "Electron-ion scattering in external magnetic field" Сourses: Electrodynamics -120 academic hours; Physics of nuclei and elemetary particles - 70 academic hours; Theory of complex variable functions - 85 academic hours; Introduction to vector and tensor computation - 45 academic hours; Mathematical methods in physics - 106 academic hours. R. Kholodov together with I. Moroz and V. Ivanii wrote a textbook "Basics of special theory of relativity" that was published in 2007. Summary. A book considers basics of special theory of relativity, physical processes causing special effects of STR, and their practical and scientific usage. Recommendations and examples on different problem solving are given. Each chapter has the list of self-control questions and tasks. The book is recommended for students of physics and mathematics departments of pedagogical and classical universities as well as for students of technical universities and teachers of physics. According to the Statute of the NAS of Ukraine, the right to nominate candidates for the position of director of a scientific institution has: the Presidium of the NAS of Ukraine, the Bureau of the relevant branch of the NAS of Ukraine, members of the NAS of Ukraine, the Academic Council of the institution. A candidate for the position of director of a state scientific institution must be fluent in the state language, have a doctorate or doctor of philosophy and work experience as a researcher and (or) research and teaching staff of at least 10 years.
